SEO Dark Art or Simple Logic?
Getting to the top of the natural listings in Google is an ultimate priority for many business owners and in some cases can even make or break a business.
As within any business, knowledge is key and as a business owner even if you are outsourcing SEO you need to have a baseline knowledge to ensure that you are getting value for money and not getting ripped off.
However, only one business at any one time can ever take pole position for a specific keyword or combination of keywords. so it is understandable that when SEO is discussed in business circles it can often be perceived as some mysterious dark art for those companies who are trailing behind.
The fact that it is also within Google’s interest to keep their algorithm a secret only reinforces the myth.
Its extremely important to remember that even with the complexity and advance of Artificial Intelligence and such like all computers and software work on logic only. If you go back to the very fundamentals of computers they understand and only speak in zeros and ones, the binary system.
A circuit is either open or closed and this is exactly the same for SEO. Its an algorithm built on simple logic.
Even in a situation where a software application would generate an apparent “random” number, the computer would use a seed value and an algorithm to generate numbers that appear to be random, but that are in fact predictable.
Although SEO can appear to be complex with hundreds of ranking factors in Google’s Algorithm there are in fact only a handful of factors that are of major importance which haven’t changed significantly since Google began.
However, if your SEO campaigns are not achieving results its easy to start becoming paranoid and frustrated, convinced that there is something wrong with your website and that SEO truly is some mysterious dark art.
I hope this article provides some assurance that SEO does work on simple logic, however, I do understand that if you are not achieving the SEO results you need how easy it is to become frustrated and annoyed.
One of the common SEO problems we came across within our own business and providing digital marketing support to others was that SEO reports such as Majestic and Ahrefs etc. didn’t seem to be providing the full picture and contradicted results.
Basically reports indicated that we should have been much higher position for keywords and we found this information very frustrating. We ultimately found the answer to this problem and If you have experienced similar problems we have also produced an article on this topic.
As part of our bespoke ‘Time to Fly’ marketing strategy we shed light on Googles SEO algorithm for you. We can also lead you directly to the freelance developers that many SEO agencies are using today.
